Biography

Fionnuala De Búrca is an Irish Soprano, who began her singing studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, while studying for a degree in Russian and History of Art at Trinity College, Dublin. She enjoys singing a wide variety of musical styles from Baroque opera to Grand opera, oratorio and early music.

She moved to London in 2003 to pursue her vocal studies with Paula Anglin at her private studio and in May 2004 she made her operatic debut as Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme. Other roles have included Helen (Moonflowers, R. Arnell), Gilda (Rigoletto, Verdi), Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell).

She has performed on the oratorio and concert platform throughout Europe, singing with numerous ensembles, most notably the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, The European Youth Choir and the European Youth Singers.  She is a former Choral Scholar of Christchurch Cathedral Choir, Dublin, with whom she performed the soprano solo in Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Missa Brevis in C minor and Schubert’s Mass in G Major.  Other solo work includes Mozart’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Hayden’s Little Organ mass and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, parts I-IV.

She performs regularly with her Recital partner, Anya Fadina, Piano.
